Care On Call

How do you find caregivers?
Fortunately, there are many caring individuals who have made caregiving their career. A majority of these individuals have worked as caregivers in licensed facilities and have decided to become private caregivers so that they are able to provide one-on-one care with their clients.

Are your caregivers pre-screened?

Every one of our caregivers goes through criminal and background investigation, health screening and reference checks.

Do you train caregivers?

All of our caregivers are required to attend regular training sessions that include topics such as care for persons with dementia, agitation, communication with elderly and other helpful and practical topics they can use in their daily work.

Who are your clients?

We work with anyone and everyone who needs assistance, whether they live at home or in a care facility.

Why should we hire you?

Allow us the opportunity to serve you and you will see the difference between us and caregivers of other agencies. We donít just hire live bodies. There are attributes and certain qualities that we would like to see among our caregivers. We strictly require them to follow our copyrighted Code of Conduct, and most of all, a distinct way of handling clients. In addition, our rates are perhaps the lowest and still negotiable.

As weíve said, weíre not into this just for the money but also to serve the elderly population. We put emphasis on service and proper decorum for our caregivers.

What if my parents donít like the caregiver you assign to them?

We match the needs of our clients to the skills and background of our caregivers. In addition, you will have control over who we assign through interview process. We can set up interviews between you and the caregiver applicants.

Do you perform injections or invasive procedures?
We offer only non-medical assistance, but weíd be happy to refer you to a licensed practitioner.

Do you assist in placement to senior facilities?

We perform complimentary placement if our client decides to move into a licensed facility or a senior community. We do not charge for this service.

What are your rates?

Weíd be happy to discuss this with you as soon as we have performed a complimentary assessment of your loved onesí needs. You may also call the office anytime to discuss your needs and we can give you a quote at that point. Our rates are affordable and negotiable.

Do your caregivers speak English?

Every one of our caregivers can communicate in English. We also hold special training on effective communication with seniors and those who are hard of hearing.

Suggestions for Families of those with Dementia

Communication

  • You will not be able to change the mind of someone with Dementia by arguing. Instead, acknowledge all requests or comments, even if irrational.
  • Donít fall into the trap of communicating only about negative issues. Praise good behavior. Speak in a caring and supportive way. Show affection often.

Maintaining Dignity

  • Dementia patients are sometimes unresponsive and distant. They still need the human touch and thrive on kindness and attention.
  • Make time to be with them and interact as one human being to another.

Managing Behavior

  • Recognize that aggressive and compulsive behavior tends to increase with the progression of the disease. No one is at fault. It is simply a manifestation of the disease.
  • Stay call and make the safety of the patient and the family your number one priority.
  • Be patient, flexible, and calm.

Staying Positive

  • Caring for a family member can be an opportunity to be involved with your loved one and make a positive impact on their life.
  • Look for ways to enjoy being together. Spend time outdoors. Take walks. Go to the park. Simple activities can be meaningful for everyone.

Managing the Environment

  • The same steps used to ìchild-proofî a home can be helpful to ensure safety.
  • Avoid surprises. Remind the dementia patient about upcoming events, even routine things like meals, visits, and bedtime.
  • Create a routine. People with Dementia prefer a predictable environment

Involving the Family

  • Children have the ability to delight an older person with their presence. Encourage children to interact with the senior family member.
  • Encourage all family members to treat seniors as part of the family.Look for opportunities for social contact and fun.
